Mr G. Kelly, Ashburton County Clerk, resumed duties yesterday after his annual leave.
Mr T. G. Taylor, a district vicepresident, and member of the Dominion executive of the R.S.A., is visiting Ashburton to-day, and will address members of the local branch of the R.S.A. to-night.' y
Miss C. M. -Rogers, of the- Ashburton Telephone Exchange, has resigned after 10 years’ service. A presentation was made to her at a farewell function held by all members of the Post Office staff.
Members of the “Guardian” staff today presented Mr Kevin Grice, linotype operator, with an electric clock to honour his approaching marriage. Mr W. B. W. Bell, in making the presentation, wished Mr Grice a happy and prosperous married life.
Major P. G. Norman, manager of the Salvation Army men’s industrial home at Addington, has been appoint, ed the -Salvation Army immigration officer for the South Island. His duties will be to assist immigrants on th eir arrival and to give any help in their welfare.
