INCOME TAX RATE
MR NORDMEYER’S REP lA' TO * FARMERS (P.A.) WELLINGTON,, April 1. A resolution by Federated Farmers. “That, the Government, be requested to lift, the .15 per cent, war increase on income taxation," will bo considered when the Budget, for this financial year is being prepared. An assurance to tliis effect is contained in a letter which Federated Farmers have received from the acting-Minister of Finance (the ITon. A. H. Nordmeyer) this week. “The Land and Income Tax Amendment Act, 35)40, provides for basic rates of taxation, but it was intended that these could he increased, if necessary, by a percentage loading,’’ said Mr Nordmeyer. “The .1.5 per cent, increase which has applied recently is intended to represent ordinary taxation only. It does not represent war taxation as implied in your resolution." ,
