PRINCESS ELIZABETH
NO ENGAGEMENTS AFTER JUNE (Rec. 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, Mar. 31. A Buckingham Palace official said today that Princess Elizabeth had made no engagements after June. The official refused to comment on persistent rumours that she was expecting a baby in October. It is pointed out that the usual procedure for the announcement of an expected Royal birth is a court notice saying: “So and so will not for the next few months undertake any further engagements.” Announcements about the Duchess of Kerb and the Duchess of Gloucester were made at least four months before the births of their children. A nursery floor is being built at Clarence House, which will be ready for Princess Elizabeth and the Duke next year. It is also reported that Princess Elizabeth has given up horseback riding.
