SURVIVORS OF CRASH
MEN FOUND ON SMALL ISLANDS (Rec. 12.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Five men who survived a' plane crash last October have been reported by a patrol officer as marooned on two small uninhabited islands in the Vitu group, -200 miles west of Rabaul. Papuan Administration officials have left for the islands in the launch Eros, and the R.A.A.F. will send' a Catalina from Port Moresby to-mor-row. The patrol officer believes that the men are either Dutch or Indonesian, and that two men are living on one island and three on another. The glands are small and rocky, but fresh water is plentiful. R.A.A.F. officers believe the men broke up into two parties to make the search for food easier.
