Mr L. G. H. Sinclair, S.M., of. Auckland, has been appointed permanent stipendary magistrate in the Napier district in succession to Mr J. Miller, S.M., who recently retired. Mr Sinclair will assume his new duties on April 12 when the present relieving magistrate at Napier (Mr H. Jenner Wily) will resume at Auckland.—P.A.
Prior to his departure from Methveu Mr G. D. Slade, who has been secretary of the Methven Golf Club, was farewelled by members and given a presentation of a fountain pen by Mr Geo. Waddington (president). Mr Slade has left en route for Uganda (East Africa) where he has accepted an appointment in the Colonial Service as a resident magistrate.
Mr A. P. Wilson, who has been living in retirement in Sydney for some time, has arrived in New Zealand fo act as chairman of stipendiary stewards in a temporary capacity till the New Zealand Racing Conference appoints a successor to the late Mr H. T. C. Gomer. Mr Wilson joined the conference staff as a stipendiary steward in 1921 and was appointed chief stipendiary steward in 1927 when Mr A. J. McMahon resigned. He held office till 1933, when he went abroad and from that year till his retirement two years ago he filled similar positions in South Africa and India.— P.A.
