ASHBURTON ASSOCIATION INITIAL TOURNEY ARRANGED Prospects are very bright for the new season, according to reports to a meeting of the Ashburton Boxing Association last evening, "when arrangements were made for the initial tournament on May 10. > There was a full 'attendance of members, and Mr A. W. Argyle presided. It was resolved that the tournament on May 10 should be held in the Radiant Hall. Special arrangements are to be made for members and they will be enabled to book seats in the ordinary way. Reports indicated that a good deal of new blood wall be available, and that the season should be one of the best to date. Three trainers reported that training was well under way, and that their charges were going very well. Some, it is expected, will be ready to compete at Timaru on April 30. It was , decided to purchase more gloves for distribution to the various trainers. ... The chairman voiced appreciation of the offer of the Catholic Club, to form a boxing school, and it was agreed that all , possible assistance should be given.' t It was mentioned that any hoys wishing to train should got in touch with the president immediately.
