MILITARY BASES
Charge in Soviet Newspapers (Rec. 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, March 29. The Soviet Army newspaper, the “Red Star,” and the naval newspaper, the “Red Fleet,” accuse the Conunan-der-in-Chief of the Swedish armed forces (General Jung) of planning to build air bases for United States aeroplanes and paratroopers on Swedish territory. The Associated Press correspondent in Moscow says that these attacks followed an accusation in the official Soviet newspaper “Izvestia” that the Norwegian Government is planning to allow the United States War Department to use Norwegian islands in the Arctic.
