AMERICAN EASTER PARADES

UNSEASONABLE WEATHER NEW YORK, March 28.' Millions of Americans to-day braved unseasonable, freezing temperatures to attend Easter services and promenade in their finery in Easter parades throughout the United States. / Blustering winds whipped the crowds parading along Fifth Avenue, where furs and top-coats hid the latest spring fashions. Six white-robed girls trumpeted in the dawn at the famous sunrise service at the Hollywood Bowl. Twentythree thousand persons packed into the amphitheatre and thousands watched from the nearby hills. At least one church broke the tradition of airing the spring fashions on Easter Sunday. More than 400 members of the congregation at the Baptist Church at Effington, Illinois, wore overalls and gingham dresses in response to the Minister’s appeal to contribute money to a new church instead of spending it on clothes.
