N.Z. PIPE BANDS’ CONTEST

’Hamilton

CHAMPIONSHIPS DECIDED AT DUNEDIN

(P.A.) DUNEDIN, March 29. The Hamilton Caledonian Society’s Pipe Rand won the A grade championship and the New Plymouth Caledonian Society’s Pipe Rand the R grade championship at the Dominion pipe band championships centennial contest which was concluded to-day with the test selections.

The Hamilton band won its test selection one point ahead of the Dunedin Rurns Rand. One of the features of the day was provided by displays by the A and B grade quickstep winners, and the winners of the drum majors’ displays. The New Plymouth Band, which won the R grade quickstep, finished fourth equal with the Wellington Police Band in the test selection, and had two points to spare in the aggregate from the Tauranga Highland Pipe Band, which won . the test selection from the Port Ahuriri Pipe Band and the Hutt Valley Pipe Band.
