FIFTY YEARS SYNE ■ ! ’ (From the “Guardian,” Mar. 29, 189 S). Building Society—At a meeting of the directors of the Ashburton Industrial Building Society, held on Friday evening, Mr J, C. Duncan tendered his resignation as secretary to the society. Mr C. J. Styche was appointed in his place.—Hockey Club: The Ashburton Hockey Club opened its season on Thursday afternoon. Sides were chosen by Messrs L. F. Andrewes and McKinney, Mr Mainwairing hitting off, the game ending in a win for Mr Andrewes’ team.
