MAYFIELD PLUNKET SOCIETY NEW OFFICERS ELECTED The annual meeting of the Mayfield sub-branch of the- Plunket Society was held recently when the president (Mrs R. Austin) presided over a fair attendance. A letter of cheer Avas directed to be. sent to Mrs J. D. Murdoch, and it was decided to place on record appreciation of her services as treasurer of the branch for 23 years. Mesdames L. Murdoch and J. Dick were elected new members. The sales table in charge of Mrs C. Dunstan, realised 14s. It was decided to hold a garden party early in October, ’to aid the branch funds.

The balance sheet showed a satisfactory credit of £B4 3s 2d.

Mrs L. A. Charles (president of the Ashburton Centre) presided for the election of officers: which resulted:— President, Mrs R. Austin ; vice-presi-dent, Mesdames J. J. Murdoch, K. Moore and E. Oakley; secretary, Miss I. McCormick; treasurer, Mrs E. Bonisch ; committee, Mesdames J. H. Patterson, J. McCormick, C. Dunstan, B. Howden, A., Jos., G. 8., and J. D. Murdoch, R. J. Mulligan, W. T. Mulligan, E. K. Dellow, ,T. King, J. T. A. Harris and Miss E. Goldsmith; auditor, Mr A. H. Guiney; delegates to centre, Mesdames Austin and K. Moore. The hostesses were Mesdames B. Howden and B. Boniseh. Social Evening A social evening was held in the Lodge Room recently by members of the Ladies’ Guild and parishioners of St. Mary’s, Mayfield, in Honour of Mrs R. Miller who is leaving the district to reside in Ashburton. The vicar, the Rev. W. C. Arnold, presided. Speakers who eulogised the guest of honour’s work for the church and guild were Mesdames H. Hewson, H. Seown, Mrs Wightrnan (St. Aidan’s Guild) and Messrs G. N. Harrison and .1. Winchester (Vestry). Mr Arnold then presented Mrs Miller with a copper log box, together with the best wishes of all for every happiness in her new home. A shoulder spray Avas presented to the guest by Mrs E. Biddick. Mr and Mrs Mjller suitably replied. Recitations were given by Miss Karen Mann. Games and competitions were won by Mesdames R. W. Oakley, J. Jacob, J. Winchester and Missi J>. Winchester. Football Club The annual meeting of the Mayfield Football Club was held in the lodge room when Mr R. J. Gallagher presided over an attendance of 20. The balance sheet showed a very satisfactory position. A donation of £o was given to the Hall Society’s Building Fund. EIFFELTON PLUNKET SOCIETY ANNUAL MEETING HELD There Avas a fair attendance at the annual meeting of the Eiffelton branch of the Plunket Society, held in the hall recently. Mrs L. A. Charles, president of the Ashburton branch, took the chair for the election of officers, Avhich resulted: Patronesses, Mesdames W. J. Anderson and J. P. McQuilkin, Snr.; president, Mrs G. Moore; secretary, Mrs T. Miles. The report shoAved a very satisfactory year’s work. It was decided to hold the annual children’® party and fancy dress ball in May. This year each child is to represent a nursery rhyme. Appreciation of the year’s work performed by the president and secretary was expressed. At the close of the meeting afternoon tea was served. Basketball Meetiing Mrs G. Moore presided over a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Eiffelton Basketball Club held in the hall on Monday night. The election of officers resulted: President, Mrs G. Moore; secretary, Miss B. Prendergast; treasurer. Miss E. Li 11; transport committee, Misses C. Lill, J. McQuilkin, M. Daly and P. Crossman. The committee consists of all members.
