THREAT TO KING
MICHAEL IN AMERICA NEW YORK, March 26 King Michael of Rumania has been threatened with assassination, says Walter Winchell in a “Daily Mirror” story from Washington. He says that Michael is under an extraordinarily heavy guard of Secret Service and Federal Bureau of Investigation officers and New York police in his hotel suite. The reinforced bodyguard is said to have “suddenly descended” on Michael, whom Winchell described aa white and trembling when seen later. He said that the authorities consider the information in their hands is so important that they will not allow Michael to remain at the hotel, and he will be taken into temporary seclusion at an undisclosed place away from Washington. PRECAUTIONS OBSERVED (Rec. 11.30) WASHINGTON, Mar. 2G. The State Department said to-day that it had received “reports of rumours of a plot” against the life of exKing Michael. “The Department is taking measures for his safety, while he is in the United States,’ it was added. A Paris report says that Princess Anne of Bourbon-Parma expects to meet King Michael in Paris, at the end of April, and to marry soon after.
