OVERCAST AND WARM Overcast but warm conditions were experienced at Ashburton this morning and again there was.very little wind. 'Yesterday there were 10.3 hours of sunshine. The maximum temperature during the 24 hours to 9 a.m. to-day was 68.4 degrees and the minimum 53, compared with 57 and 39.2 over the previous corresponding period. The earth temperature this morning was 57.1 degrees against 54.3 at 9 a.m. yesterday. Continuing its upward climb, the barometer registered 30.03 inches this morning, compared with 29.80 yesterday. FAIR TO FINE The Government ■ Meteorologist, _ at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General situation: An extensive anticyclone is moving on to New Zealand from the west. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru to o p.m. to-morrow is as follows: Light variable winds inland, but moderate north-easterlies near the coast, but-weather otherwise fair; temperatures cool to moderate. Further outlook: Similar conditions.
