DISPOSAL OF HANGAR

AERO CLUB’S SUGGESTION I | Advice was received by the Ashburton Borough Council last night from Dr. W. G. Todd'that he understood that the Civil • Aviation Department might ,be taking over control of the Ashburton aerodrome from the Public Works Department, and he desired to know if this action would prejudice the Ashburton Aero Club’s chances of obtaining the use of the hangar and buildings. Dr. Todd thought that, as the original aero club hangar was of no further use as a hangar, it might be sold and some of the funds granted to the club for the establishment of a ciub house at tfoe aerodrome. The Ashburton County Council wrote that, as the disposal of the original hangar was a matter which concerned both bodies, they had .set up a committee to confer with the' council on the matter. It was decided that as the matter was one concerning the County Council and the Borough Council, that a special committee be set up. The committee appointed comprised the Mayor (Mr E. C. Bathurst), the Deputy-Mayor (Mr A. A. McDonald) and Cr. .1. R. Richardson.
