ST. JAMES THEATRE . Frank Morgan and Keenan Wynn are co-starred in “The Cockeyed Miracle” which opens at the St. James Theatre to-morrow. Wynn is seen in the role of Ben Griggs, swashbuckling New Zealand seafarer who has died fifty years before the picture opens, but who returns to earth in ectoplasmic form to guide his newly deceased son, in the person, or rather spirit, of Morgan to his heavenly reward. Providing the love interest is blonde Auldrey Totter, who last appeared in “The Postman Always Rings Twice.” Teamed romantically with Miss Totter is Richard Quine, who makes his first film appearance following two years in the U.S. Coast Guard. One of M.G.M.’s most talented young actors, Quine has the role of an absentminded geology profesor whose scientific detachment remains with him in the rarified atmosphere of a heady romance. Marshall Thompson, recently seen in “Bad Bascomb,” has an important role as the son of the family whose ambition to become a shipbuilder motivates much of the story’s action.
