EIFFELTON COUNTRY GIRLS’ CLUB VISIT TO ARNO Six members of the EifTelton Country Girls’ Club left on Thursday to pay a visit to members of the Arno Club. “ Arriving at Waimate at noon, they were met by their hostesses and given lunch, and then proceeded an inspection of the Waimate shops. Under the guidance of Mr G. Dash, the girls were shown the park, gardens, schools, and the new hospital. They were taken to afternoon tea by their guide, before their departure ( for Arno. Each received a copy of “The Song of. Waimate” and “The Best Little Town that I Know,” a book of recitations, all written by Mr Dash. Fourteen girls from the clubs left on Friday morning for Oamaru, where a much-enjoyed day was spent looking round the shops, gardens, parks and other places of interest. A tired but happy crowd arrived home in time to enjoy a double featured programme at the Waimate picture theatre, A tennis party was held at the Arno courts on Saturday afternoon, where many skilled players had gathered. A complimentary dance, which was very much enjoyed by all, was held in the Arno Hall on Saturday night for the 'Eiffelton Club members. Sunday turned out a beautiful day for the picnic at A. McCullough’s bridge. Miss Unwin, rural sociologist of the Department of Agriculture from Dunedin spent Saturday and Sunday with the clubs. A canoe ride was much enjoyed by a few of the visiting girls. Leaving from Arno at noon on Monday, the girls dined in Waimate and left for home after a short but. interesing stay.
