NEW OFFICERS ELECTED 1 . The annual meeting of the Ashburton Schools’ Musical Society was held yesterday. Mr- S. G. MaSianane presided over a representative attendance. The annual report recorded a successful year, and tbe statement of receipts and expenditure showed a satisfactory credit balance. If. was decided to hold a music festival this year about tbe usual time. Officers were elected as follows: Patron,Mrs A. T., Smith ; president, Mr S. G. Macfarlane; vice-presidents, Messrs E. A. Cockroft, W. Crawford, ,T Frazer, G. A. Bain and C. H. Maynard; secretary-treasurer, Mr F. R. 'Service; auditor, Mr ,T. M. Willoughby; convener of music committee" Miss B. H. Brown.
