CHRISTCHURCH SALE YESTERDAY Southdowns met a disappointing sale on the first day' of the Christchurch Flock Ram Fair at the Showgrounds yestei'day. The breed accounted for about three-quarters of the en-. try, which "was confined to the mutton breeds, and. most of the. sheep were in good order, and were well brought out. The offering, which consisted of Southdowns, English Leicesters, Border Leicesters, Ryelands, Shropshires, Suffolks, and South-Suffolks, totalled 2200. Values for the few outstanding sheep were good, but others showed ■ a decline on last year’s prices of about Ign foi* good sheep, and up to 2gns for medium sheep. The average was just under 9gns. The best made from 18gns to 35gns, good 12gns to 17gns, average B'gns to llgns, and ordinary from 3|gns to 7gns. English Leicester breeders had a better day than they have had for a very long time. Border Leicesters met a very disappointing sale, and Ryelands also had a depressing sale. South Suffolks were again in keen demand, the average price being lOgns. Suffolks also averaged lOgns.
