(P.A.) AUCKLAND, February o. A new phase of tourist travel began to-day when the first party of Americans to come by air for a conducted toun. of New Zealand arrived at Whenuapai from Fiji on the Pan American Airways’ clipper Celestrial.
The four men and five women in the group, who spent six days in Fiji on their way from San Francisco, will make a comprehensive tour of both islands, lasting 37 days. They will spend two weeks in Sydney before returning to the United States by way of Hawaii.
The party will leave for Frankton on Saturday morning, and then travel to Waitomo Caves. They will later go to New Plymouth and Wellington, before commencing a tour of South Island resorts.
