ROYAL WEDDING
NO HOLIDAY FOR SCHOOLS (P.A..) WELLINGTON, This Day. There will be no declaration of a holiday for schools to celebrate the Royal wedding, said the Minister ol Education, the Hon. T. H. McCombs, to-day. However, the governing authorities of secondary schools had powers to grant a holiday if they so wished. It was considered that there were a number of interruptions toward the end of the school year, and it was not desirable on- this occasion to add to them, particularly as a number of schools would be closed for the municipal elections on November 19, said the Minister. The schools were being asked to mark the occasion of Princess Elizabeth’s wedding suitably.
