ACTION AGAINST FRANCO REGIME NEW YORK, November 11. The United States oppos'd to-day a demand by the Soviet 0100 that me United Nations should mice all possible economic action 1o cause the fall of the Franco regime. Mr Charles Fahey lout rho political committee thaj. the United States was against any action which.would initiate a change by violence. Ihe Spanish people “in due time and in their own way” would take "tens to regain their place in the family of nations. The committee was debating a Polish resolution for complete or partial economic sanctions against Spain Mr Gromyko, supporting the resolution, said that although the United States and Britain had recalled their Ambassadors from Madrid, their relations with Spain had become more cordial, and trade between the three nations had grown. After Canada, the Netherlands. Mexico and Chile had opposed the Polish resolution, the committee appointed a sub-committee to endeavour to coordinate the various proposals which have been submitted on the Spanish question.
