FRANCE WARNED
Must Oppose Soviet DE GAULLE URGES SYSTEM OF ALLIANCES (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter— Copyright). (Rec. 11.30 a.m.) PARIS, Nov. IS. General De Gaulle to-day called on France to take the initiative in forming a system of alliances. Avith the United States, Britain and other countries Avho felt menaced by the Soviet. He said that France should lead in opposing the Soviet because it Avas the most menaced externally and internally. General De Gaulle, Avho Avas speaking at a press conference, said that America, under the proposed system of alliances, could supply economic aid to France. She could contribute through her geographical position and moral influence in Europe. France not only Avas menaced externally but internally by the assistance being given to the Soviet, and must begin to organise Western Europe for defence. The treaties must be for specific purposes, and made by equals. General De Gaulle strongly supported federated German reparations and tight Allied control. If one united Germany Avere to be established Fiance owed it to herself to refuse to consent to the establishment of another Reich, and to demand adequate control and reparations, particularly coal.
Speaking of the possibility of outlawing French Communists, he said that a neAV world system might be developed Avhich Avould by-pass that question. General De Gaulle told a questioner that it “would be crazy not to look facts in the face. We must face the possibility of a new Avar and prepare for it.”
He urged the formation of a “rally of the British people” similar to his OAvn “Rally of the French People.”
