Mr J. J. Murray, Australian Trade Commissioner to ,New Zealand, will make his first visit to the South Island early in the New Year. He hopes to spend about two months in the South Island.
Most Rev. P. F. Lyons, D.D. (Bishop of Christchurch) visited Ashburton yesterday in the course of a tour of parishes in South and MidCanterbury. From here his Lordship went on to Methven.
Admiral Sir Louis Hamilton, Chief of the Australian Naval Staff, arrived at Paraparaumu by air from Auckland yesterday morning, accompanied by the Chief of the New Zealand Naval Staff, Commodore Simpson. During his stay at Wellington Sir Louis Hamilton will be the guest of the GovernorGeneral (Sir Bernard Frey berg) at Government House.—P.A.
Mr Taylor Cole, international president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce movement, will be a visitor to Ashburton on Tuesday morning, when he will be the guest of the Ashburton Junior Chamber. Mr Cole, a 33-year-old oil geologist of Midland, Texas, is now on a visit to Australia and New Zealand in completion of a world tour at his own expense.
