SYDNEY MILK STRIKE

DISPUTE OVER DISMISSAL (Rec. 9.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 25. More than 0000 homes, flats and shops in King’s Cross Point areas ot the city were deprived of milk to-day, when 30 milk carters staged a strike over the dismissal of a carter. The men had held a conference with the company officers, but could gain no assurance of the man’s reinstatement. The matter was not placed before the union, which started to move in the matter this afternoon, 1 12 hours after the strike took place. The men reported for work on the morning rounds, but refused to deliver milk amounting to 2700 gallons.

ORDER BY COMMISSIONER (Rec. 12.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The president of the Industrial Commission, Mr Justice Taylor, has directed the striking milk carters, who deliver in the city and King’s Cross Potts Point areas, to resume work immediately. The men will meet to-day to consider this direction. The secretary of the Milk and Ice Carters’ Union said that, so far, the union had not endorsed the stoppage in any way.
