SAFE ON A SHIP
SURVIVORS OF GIPPSLAND (Rec. 12.30) BRISBANE, This Day. The crew of 13, who escaped from the wooden steamer" Gippsland before she foundered in heavy seas about 100 miles w N est of Port Moresby, have been picked up and are on a ship bound for Port Moresby. The Australian Petrol Company s ship Kibula, which had been diverted to rescue the men took them off Oiapu Island, where they landed in two lifeboats.
