PRIZES PRESENTED
ALLENTON SPORTS CLUB CLOSING DAY Saturday was the closing day oj tlie Allenton Sports Club’s 1946-47 season, and Avhile greens were not playable after tlxe rain of the previous day, there' was a fair attendance of members and friends at a pleasant function at which prizes Avon during the season were presented. The president (Mr A. H. Todd) congratulated members on a successful season, and expressed thanks to Mrs Waller and lady members for attending to refreshments. Mrs E. C. Bathurst presented the croquet section prizes, and the president the tennis, and bowling awards. The section winners were as follows: Croquet Section—Senior championship, Miss M. Osborn; junior championship, Mrs G. Church; senior Barr Cup, Miss M. Osborn; junior BanCup, Mrs R. Thompson; senior progressive, Mrs E. C. Balhurst; junior progressive, Mrs C. Hale; handicap doubles, Mrs E. C. Bathurst and Mrs G. Knox; first-year player, Mrs Clueas. Tennis Section— Senior woman, Miss G. Paul; senior man, N. Knox; mixed doubles, Mrs W. Corbett and N. Knox. Bowling Sect ion—Champion singles, R. Mathieson; champion pairs, J. Cowans (s.) and ,T. Paterson; colts’ singles, C. Good; handicap pairs, A. Sinclair (s.) and T. Evans; Robert Barr Memorial Shield, T. Thomson (s), T. Plmup, J. Gardiner and R. Thompson. A (lag 500 tournament in the evening Avas well attended, the winners being Mrs Griffiths and Messrs Doak and R. McElhinney. Mr J. Templeton Avon a competition for the president’s cake.
