DAFFODIL DAY YESTERDAY PLUNKET SOCIETY’S FUNDS The record sum of about £420 was raised by the Ashburton, branch of the Plunket Society on its annual Daffodil Day yesterday. Some small amounts have still to come in, but it is expected that the final amount will be about £420. The proceeds exceed last year's record figure by about £63.

This* is the first time in the history 'of the society that a figure of over £4OO has been raised. Last year the sum was £357 2s, in 1944 it was £343, and in 1943 it was £305. Ideal weather favoured the appeal and brisk business was done by the stalls." The majority of daffodils were from “Otahuna,” the residence of Sir R. Heaton Rhodes.
