WELCOME HOME

MEMBERS OF HARMONICA BAND A welcome home social to 2S members who have returned from overseas was held in the Foresters’ Hall bv the Ashburton Imperial Harmonica Band. There was a large attendance, including the Mayor aifd Mayoress (Mr and Mrs. E. C. Bathurst) and representatives of the Ashburton Silver and Pine Bands. , Speeches of welcome were made by Mr F. Ward (past president) and Mr Bathurst. The president (Mr S. Wilson) replied on behalf of the returned members. On behalf of hand members the treasurer (Mr T. J.'Harvev) presented the past secretary (Mr A. Thompson), who lias resigned for health,reasons, with a cheque in appreciation of his valuable service. Solos were sung by Miss K. Hannan and saxophone solos played by Mr J. Hawke. The band also gave items. Music for dancing was supplied by Mrs Gordon’s orchestra. Mr J. Watson was master of ceremonies. -
