VERMIN KILLED
ASHBURTON DISTRICT ROYALTIES Vermin royalties paid out by the Ashburton Acclimatisation Society during the year ended July 31 amounted to £2l Os 3d, according to a return presented to a meeting of the committee ot the society last evening. The return had heen prepared hv the secretary, Mr A. J. Nicoll, avlio added that the payments were for the following: Stoats 73, ferrets 79,hawks 149, hr own owls 3. Advice was received from the Nationai Acclimatisation Society Authority in Wellington that the Act had heen- amended to provide for the appointment of honorary rangers for terms of three years only, and not for life, as lias heen the position in the past. Notice was received that the annual meeting of the South Island Council would he held at Christchurch on September 26. Mr A. J, Millichamp was appointed delegate to represent the society at this gathering. Mr J. Donn presided at the meeting.
