PALESTINE PROBLEM
LONDON CONFERENCE (Rec. 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 27. Although the London Conference on Palestine is opening on September 9, it at present is indicated that it will not take the form of a round-table conference, says the Press Association. It is expected that the Jews and Arabs will ask for parallel conferences. and unless wluit appear to lie almost insuperable obstacles are brushed aside, there is not much likelihood of bringing them together for a common contribution to the solution of the problem. In Jerusalem to-day Dr. Hussein Whaliji, secretary of the Arab Executive, described as incorrect Hie statement yesterday reporting General Sir Alan Cunningham’s meeting with Jamal Bel Husseini. He said: “Husseini did not ask fhal tlie Arab delegation to London include the Mufii, but merely conveyed the executive’s decision that the Mufti be a member of the delegation. We are not begging for a favour.”
