AERIAL BURNED
LIGHTNING HITS PLANE (Rec. 12.45) BRISBANE, This Day. Lightning burned the radio aerial off a New Zealand Air Force plane soon after it left Conclurry for Brisbane. The plane, which was a Dakota, was fiying between two cloud formations when the pilot, Flight-Lieutenant G. Hutton, heard an explosion and saw a flash. The crew claim the machine is the only New Zealand machine yet to land on Chinese soil.
Apart from the loss of the aerial, the plane is undamaged.
