POSSIBILITY OF DEPRESSION (Rec. 12.30 p.m.) BERNE, August 26. While making no forecast regarding the possibility of another depression, the annual report of the Bank for International Settlements notes the intense business boom bordering on over-employment in many countries, and examines current fears that, the boom may be followed by a “bust.” The report considers that the maintenance of price and wages controls has very definite limitations, and expresses the opinion that the freezing of prices tends to hinder rather than help economic progress.
