Reserved Lands. - The following lands have been temporarily reserved: Hinds, 2a Or. 4p. for Government buildings; Ashburton 2a, 2r, paddock for stock department; Rabbit Island, 10a, for dairy factory; Ashburton, 2a lr Sp, for ballast pit. In Alford Survey district, 59a is permanently reserved for tramway, water-race and planting purposes. TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO (From the “Guardian,” Aug. 27, 1921). Funds for Baths.—The Hampstead Fair was successfully concluded on 'Saturday night, when the attendance of the public and volume of business done exceeded all previous records. The total receipts were £429, and the expenses are expected to be very small leaving a net balance toward the memorial baths of £4OO. The “Prince” competition was productive of a surprise, the English 'Prince (Mervyn Thompson) beating the Irish sprig of loyalty (Noel Kerr) by 114 votes.
