ROCKET AIR-MAIL
PROJECT DISCUSSED LONDON, August 23. A “rocket” airmail service between Britain and America is being discussed. It is reported that the first steps have been taken and a launching site in England has been surveyed and bought by the Air Ministry. Experiments are also being carried out. If they are successful a service of radio-controlled mail and light freight rockets travelling at 2000 miles an hour will eventually be created. They would cross the Atlantic in 90 minutes. One estimate is that the service may begin within two years. The rockets will be pilotless, radioguided supersonic projectiles bearing some relation to ; high-speed, aircraft in design and powered by what is known as the athodyd, a development of jet propulsion which comes nearer to perpetual motion than any other known form of propulsion.
