NAZI SPY
ATTEMPTED SUICIDE (Rec. 11.30 a.m.) MADRID, Aug. 23. KarJ Arnold, a Nazi spy who was brought to the airport in a coma from an overdose of sleeping tablets was deported with 14 Germans by air to Frankfurt. Arnold took tlfe pills overnight in a reported attempted suicide. Others deported included a woman, Karla Brandt, former secretary to the Gestapo chief in Spain, Heinrich Brauer, who is stated to be wanted in England, France and Belgium, and Walter Mosig, a notorious member of the Gestapo. Kurt Meyer Doehner, Hitler’s naval attache, failed to appear after giving a guarantee.
