SALES OF PORTIONS SOUGHT COMMITTEE RESERVES DECISION Approval of sales of portions of the Lagmhor Estate, Avhich lias been OAvned by the Black family since 1912, Avere sotiglit from the Canterbury Rural Land Sales Committee • which sat in ton to-day. Two separate transactions Avere involved and decision on each was reseiwed.
Messrs W. H. Nicholls (chairman) and W. O. Rennie Avere the members of the committee. The first section of the land to be considered bA r the • committee Avas a block of 366 acres 3 roods 21 perches, Avhich Thomas Black Avished to sell to Robert Hugh Walls, also of Ashburton, at a price of £7SB9. Included in the sale Avas a six-roomed dwellinghouse with all the usual farm buildings. A portion of the block, 224 acres, was sold in 1937 for £3370. The CroAvn valuation, by Mr C. J. Muir, Avas £7082, and the vendor’s valuation, by Mr R. D. Robinson', was £BOOO. The price asked averaged £2l per acre. On the valuation roll oi 1938 the unimproved value was shown as £3665, and the capital value as £5020. , „ , Mr R. Kennedy appeared for both parties to the transaction. Decision was reserved. Second Block The second block considered Avas oi 188 acres 3 roods 34 perches, which Mr Black Avished to sell to Mrs Ruth Hill Button, of Lagmhor, at a price of £3401. The Crown valuation Avas £2461 and the vendor’s valuation, by Mr Robinson, £350(1. In 1920 the same property was sold for £1063 19s* The valuation roll of 1938 gave the unimproved value as £l46o'and the capi-, tal as £1875. JVJj- R. Kennedy appeared for the vendor,.
