SUB-CENTRE MEETING The annual meeting of the Porie subbranch of the Red Cross Society was held recently. • Officers were electe das follow” President, Miss Carruthers; vice-presi-dent, Miss Harrison; secretary, Mrs T. A. Richards; treasurer, Mrs J. Muckle; committee, Mrs C. Sargent, Mrs D. McKie, Mrs F. Alexander, Mrs J. Prendergast. The need for a continuance of Red Cross activities in the post-war period was emphasised by the president, and an increased membership was therefore desired.

It was decided to make a donation of £5 to Corso. During the year a quantity of clothing was made up, parcels of clothing were sent to the Lady Galway Guild and to the Greeks, and tinned food and clothing were sent, to Britain. A parcel of knitted articles and two. tins of home-made biscuits were sent lo the Queen Mary Hospital, Hanmer. A satisfactory credit balance was shown.
