KNOCKED DOWN BY TRAMS ACCIDENTS IN AUCKLAND ’bP.A.) AUCKLAND, January 1. Three elderly persons lost their lives in a series of trainway accidents in the last two days. All the victims were pedestrians. A man was killed in Queen Street, and. a woman suffered fatal injuries in Remit era Road on Monday afternoon after being struck by a tram. The third fatal tramway accident, occurred this morning, when a man was knocked down in the Great. South Road.

While crossing Queen Street at the corner of Fort Street on Monday afternoon, John Miltiades Hennessey, otherwise known as John Sharon and John Shannon, aged 60, a pensioner, was run over by a Ponsonby hound tram. He died instantly from multiple injuries. Also on Monday afternoon Miss Isabella Jane Hall, aged 75, of Remuera, was crossing Remuera Road when she was struck by a city bound tram.
