WELFARE OF TROOPS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Dee. 17. The Now Zealand force for Japan would be well equipped from the welfare side, states Colonel F. Waite, Commissioner for the National Patriotic Board in the Middle East, in the latest report. Although to some extent they were working in the dark, welfare supplies were based on the assumption that for three months the troops might not have access to any resources. The provision being made from patriotic funds included sports gear, grants to officers’ and sergeants’ messes and to regimental funds, and later for. the establishbent of a club (if required), brass band instruments, Y.M.C.A. equipment, reading material, radio sets, canteen supplies and patriotic parcels,, if needed.
