Shipbuilding in Japan. —Allied headquarters have announced that Japanese shipyards are constructing 122 steel and 1536 wooden ships. The Japanese merchant fleet will be geared to support a minimum Japanese economy. The Japanese have been ordered to produce craft to meet harbour requirements, the fishing industry, and the repatriation programme, and also for vital imports.
