NATURAL CLASSES FOR SHEEP A. AND P. SHOWS Discontinuation of natural condition classes forjjheep at the annual show was suggested when the general committee of the Ashburton Agricultural and Pastoral Association met yesterday. The matter was referred to the sheep committee. One of the advocates of eliminating the classes was Mr R. J. Martin, who said the more he saw of them the less he thought of them, particularly for shows in the spring. Possibly they would be all right for the autumn, when the sheep had not much wool on them. He had seen- hundreds of sheep outside the show which were as good as those entered. A recommendation from the judge of Border Leicesters at the last show (Mr R. S. Gunn) that the number of classes in that section be reduced to four was referred to the incoming committee. Several suggestions for improvement in the flo-wer and school sections were similarly dealt with. Mr A. P. Bruce said it would be a good thing to have the duties of several officials at the show more clearly defined.
One new member was elected. The president (Mr S. H. Lill) pre* sided.
