DEATH INI BELGIUM (Rec. 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 16. The originator of the “V” sign to the partisans of Europe was a Belgian, Victor de la Veleye, who directed Belgian broadcasts during the war from London. Colonel Britton (Douglas Ritchie, director of 8.8.C.’s European news section), announced this to-night in a broadcast tribute after receipt of the news of de la Veleye’s death in Belgium, aged 51.
