U-BOATS DESTROYED
GERMAN CREWS ASSIST (Rec. 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 3. German crews helped to send more than 100 U-boats to their graveyard off the coast of Donegal last week. The “Evening News” publishes a picture of the operation which .is known at the Admiralty as “operation deadlight.” The weather was so bad that the first batch, which were practically new examples of the 250-ton type, could not be destroyed by explosives, so the escorting destroyers sank them by gunfire.
