FORCES IN AUSTRIA
BRITAIN MOVES FOR REDUCTION (Rec. 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 3. Britain has taken the initiative in inaugurating negotiations to bring about a reduction in Allied occupation forces in Austria, says the Press Association’s diplomatic correspondent. Communications have been sent to Russia, America and France stating that in the British view the time has arrived for a reduction of the armies which are adding greatly to Austria’s present economic difficulties and grievous burden to her. Britain suggests that the armies should be so reduced that in a few months the forces of the occupying Powei’s would approximately be equal.
