CLOUDY AND COOL TO-DAY The sky at Ashburton to-day was clouded and the atmosphere cool. There was a light north-easterly bi'eeze. The maximum and minimum temperatures yesterday were 69.2 and 53.3 degrees, compared with 56.6 and 36.5 on Sunday. The barometer to-day registered 29.58 inches, against 29.66 yesterday. OUTLOOK FAIR (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: * General situation: Pressure is high north of New Zealand and a low trough extends from south-east of New Zealand to New South Wales. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru to 5 p.m. to-morrow is as follows: Moderate variable winds with southwesterlies freshening to-morrow; weather, cloudy with rain in the ranges and a few showers elsewhere; temperatures becoming cooler. Further outlook: Fair.
