BOXING.

PETROL FOR TRANSPORT. TOURNAMENT NEXT MONTH. Assistance with petrol for the transport .of boxers to contests will be available from the Oil Fuel Controller, according to advice received by’ the committee of the Ashburton Boxing Association from the New Zealand Association last evening. it was decided to hold the next tournament on September 10. An endeavour will be made to have boxers from the West Coast compete. The president (Mr A. W. Argyle) reported that a tournament would be held at Waimate on Saturday. It was left to the president to ascertain if any boxers from Ashburton would take part. The treasurer reported that the estimated profit on the last tournament at Ashburton was £24. Mr S. McElhinney was appointed to the committee.
