A smoker’s pipe, auctioned on Monday by Mr Frank Robinson at. Hie ladies’ evening cf the Timaru Rotary Club, evoked spirited bidding. From the various bids a sum of £l3 ->s Get was raised for the Timaru Red Cross. As an inducement to further bids, the auctioneer said: “This pipe was made by Mr Ernest Waslibourne, and lie has promised that, if you break your teeth with it, he will make a new fake set for you.”
