JURY DISAGREES.
ALLEGED THEFT OF £8740. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 30. After a retirement of more than four hours the jury in the Supreme Court to-night failed to reach a verdict in the case in which Clarence Haigh, U clerk, aged 49, and Lionel Clifford Nimmo, an auctioneer, aged 36, were jointly charged with the theft as servants of sums totalling £8740 from Townsend and Paul. Mi Justice Blair was on the Bench. Tim,*CrQWn .Prosecutor (Mr W. H. Cunningham) conducted -the prosecution and, Mr W. E. Leicester appeared for the accused.
The jury was discharged, and leave was granted for a new trial at the next sessions.
