NO-CONFIDENCE VOTE

HOSPITAL BOARD DISPUTE. (P.A.) AUCKLAND, May 28. The relations between the combined medical staffs and the chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board were again raised at a meeting of the Board tonight, when a resolution from the staffs of the Auckland and Green Lane Hospitals reaffirming their vote of noconfidence in the chairman (Mr A. J. Moody) was received. The question provoked a long discussion. The combined medical staffs’ resolution stated that the vote of noconfidence was reaffirmed because the chairman had failed to explain or apologise for recent misleading statements, and the stall's reiterated _ that such statements were prejudicial to the working of the hospital and calculated to undermine the confidence of the public. The second clause said that the staffs affirmed the principle that they must be free from instructions from lay committees with regard to technical details of their professional work. The statements of the chairman referred to conditions at the casualty department of the Auckland Hospital.
