To-day has been a day of farewells in London, when Ministers and staffs who worked together throughout the European war parted in order to take up fresh duties elsewhere. There were no ceremonies. During the day retiring Ministers handed their seals of office to the King, and the King held a Privy Council, at which Ministers in the “Caretaker” Government took their oaths and kissed hands on their appointment.- Mr Churchill attended, together with a number of new Ministers. Ten minutes before the Council. Mr Ernest Brown, Minister of Aircraft Production, was received in audience by the King. During the afternoon, in the Cabinet Room, Mr Churchill gave a farewell party to Labour and Liberal Ministers who are leaving his Coalition Government, and who will be in. the Opposition on Tuesday when Parliament meets. A correspondent says it was a jolly gathering at which members of the new Cabinet laughed and joked their predecessors. Everyone, particularly Mr Churchill, seemed in the highest spirits. Tea, and cocktails -were provided, and most of the ex-Ministers as well as the new ones of Cabinet rank were there. —British Official Wireless.
